Meet Christopher Mechaley, Head of Studio DUMBO at Merrell Soule Architects.
Born in South Dakota and raised in Texas, Chris attended The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., where he earned dual degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering. Chris began his career as an architect in DC before pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Chris has extensive experience in architectural design, primarily with small boutique firms. He has also taught a variety of architecture courses, including design studios and courses focused on structures.
His first projects in the Hamptons took place in the early 2000s, while he was working at Christoff:Finion. Those projects marked the beginning of his appreciation for the architecture and landscape of the East End.
Chris joined MSA in 2022 and currently leads our DUMBO studio, contributing to innovative and thoughtful projects. He believes that being an open and receptive communicator allows him to learn from different perspectives and discover new approaches to problem-solving.
He enjoys visiting new places with his wife and family, and food is an integral part of all his travels.
